Camp Casey

This past school year I joined a club called Camp Casey!  This is a non-profit organization that raises money for children with cancer.  What do we do with this money?!  We provide horsey house calls for children who are too sick to leave their homes for a day of FUN!  I am so glad I joined this club as it is such a wonderful cause.  Look at the videos below to see what we are all about :)

Moe, the Camp Casey horse recently got sick.

After a rollercoaster 10 day battle with colic, an esophageal tear and complications caused from those two harrowing conditions, Moe—Camp Casey’s trustworthy and steadfast four-legged worker—has shown the world he really is as strong as a horse.

As recently as Monday, we were dealing with a lot of serious worst-case scenarios. Today, we got word from the docs at MSU that Moe is making a full recovery. This is nothing less than a miracle.

The happy ending of Moe’s traumatic health scare brings about a bittersweet ending for the entire Camp Casey staff. Once we realized that Moe was going to come through this, we had to accept that the best way to ensure his continued health was to retire him from his duties as a Camp Casey service horse. Going back to work could cause undue stress on his weakened body. After all he’s done for our kids, we couldn’t imagine not putting his health first and letting him live out his golden years in retirement.

We have Horsey House Calls scheduled for this summer and have made arrangements to make sure those kids are given the same star treatment that Moe would’ve bestowed upon them.
