Loved my pediatric level I fieldwork placement this summer! Working in an outpatient sensory clinic has always been a dream of mine. I learned so much and had such a great time!

Alumna.
It's as official as it gets, until I get my diploma in the mail!
I graduated from Michigan State University----I'm officially an Alumna!
Mixed feelings, more sad than happy, but I am proud nonetheless and am eager to begin my next chapter in life in Occupational Therapy school!

Anti-Bullying Summit
Through my internship at Special Olympics, I was able to help plan and coordinate a Youth Anti-Bullying Summit for the Lansing area public schools. This was an initiative through Special Olympics & Project Unify to help spread the word about the hurtful actions using the "R" word causes and how to avoid it. It was an awesome event with great speakers like recording artist Keenan West and Attorney General Bill Schuette!

Polar Plunge 2013
This past weekend I volunteered at the Polar Plunge for my internship! This event raises millions of dollars each year for Michigan Special Olympics! The last picture was my favorite costume! :)

Special Olympics
This semester I am interning at Special Olympics Michigan! It has been so great so far and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages with special needs and disabilities. My weeks pretty much consist of a) shadowing adapted physical education teachers at schools, b) helping to run and organize for events, c) help plan and organize for our upcoming anti-bullying summit, and d) work at various events including the Polar Plunge, area basketball tournaments, area gymnastics tournaments, area swim meets, and area snowshoe events.
Fortunately, the first work of February I was able to travel to Traverse City, Michigan for the Special Olympics State Winter Games, consisting of snow shoe, alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, speed skating, and figure skating. I was a hampering for athletes, ran events, helped athletes get ready, hung out with athletes, and had a great time! Love my major and my future career path!!

Birthday
I cannot believe I am 22! That feels old to me. I know, I know... It's not! But still.
I had a great time going to the 2013 Lansing Frost Fest with Nam, Jessica, and Chris. We were able to get a collectible glass mug, craft beer, and see three talented musical bands (Civil Twilight, Flint Eastwood, and Lights & Caves)! It was such a cool set-up: heated tents for the show... But outside consisted of a euchre tournament on ice blocks as chairs and ice block tables, bags game made out of ice, and ice checkers and ice chess boards! So cool!
Love my friends.
Nam got me a PURPLE iPod Shuffle for my birthday! Can't wait to use it to work out with!!
I also got to go home for my birthday to spend time with my family and cutie-pa-tutie dog Max! I had a graduate school interview at Grand Valley State the next morning and my Dad kindly went with me!
