Currently sitting poolside during my break. We just finished a delicious lunch of grilled chicken, potato wedges, and coke. This morning, we finished the concrete floors! The little children were even able to put their hands in the wet cement, the dog too. The children only go to school for half days here. So either from 7-12 or 12-4. Sadly, one of the oldest girls at the house, Jessica, only goes to school 1-3 days a week since she has to watch over the younger children while the mom is at work. I have blisters on my thumbs from shoveling, my back aches, feet and arms hurt, but seeing this progression is amazing. This afternoon we will be putting up the walls! I am getting so excited to see the final product. I learned today this family was chosen for the housing project by their community, neighbors, and other groups. The mother was so thankful and was completely overjoyed when they broke ground that she began to cry. I already want to come back to Nicaragua to build more homes! Pictures do NOT even begin to show the living conditions here. Nicaragua among several other countries all around the world need volunteers and/or donations.
P.S cannot believe Brandon Dawson tore his ACL.
